When you are planning a wedding, one of the biggest decisions that you will make overall is choosing a theme for your wedding. Some people like elaborate and over-the-top decor reminiscent of royal weddings while others may go for a moody, romantic vibe. Still, others might prefer a simple, rustic motif. If you are among the group that prefers a romantic rustic wedding, there are many additional decisions you will need to make. One of those major choices is, of course, your wedding dress. Get to know some of the ways that you can choose a wedding dress to match your rustic wedding theme. Then, you can go dress shopping knowing the type of dress you are looking for.
Consider a Simple Silhouette
For the most part, rustic weddings are all about simplicity and a feeling of everything just coming together naturally and organically. Because of this, you do not want to go too glamorous or grand with your wedding dress silhouette. Massive and heavy ballgowns, for example, are often not the best choice for a rustic wedding. Oftentimes, sheath, A-line, and even mermaid dresses are the best to match a rustic theme.
Avoid Too Much Glitter or Sparkle
Another factor to keep in mind, aside from the silhouette of the dress, is the embellishments on it. Sometimes, this can matter even more than the silhouette you choose. If you have your heart set on a ballgown, for example, you might be able to make it work with a rustic theme. You just need to remember to think simple with the dress design.
Lots of beading, crystals, sequins, or other sparkly elements will make the dress more of a glam or Hollywood style. Think simple lines, clean fabrics, and minimal embellishments, and you will be able to stick to your rustic theme. This rule is also true of the other silhouettes that naturally fit into the rustic theme as well. Too much glitter and sparkle can vastly change the style of a wedding dress.
While simple is best for a rustic wedding dress, that does not mean the dress has to be plain or boring. One of the best additions to any rustic wedding dress is lace. Lace gives a dress a vintage and country feel while also adding a little pizzazz to a dress. There are numerous types of lace that you can choose from including Venetian lace, Chantilly lace, and embroidered lace. You can choose the type of lace you want based on how delicate you want the dress to look and feel and how much you want to draw the eye to the pattern of the lace.
Now that you know some of the factors to consider when choosing a wedding dress to match your rustic wedding theme, you can get out there and find your perfect dress.Share

Hello, I am Ryan Vaughn. When I was growing up, I always dreamed of meeting the right girl and having a fairytale wedding. I thought out the tuxedo I would wear, dances we would complete and even the shape, size and flavor of the cake I wanted. Luckily, when I did meet the girl of my dreams, she had just as elaborate wedding desires. We set up a dream wedding with years of careful planning. Taking our time allowed us to get great deals on a venue, wedding supplies and clothing for our entire party. I would like to share the techniques we used to plan our wedding to help everyone achieve the event of their dreams. Thanks.
